Peace of mind for yourself and your family.
Currently, meal deliveries are made 365 days of the year within Fredericton city limits, in the Village of New Maryland and now Hanwell. The essential task of getting the meals from the kitchens to those who need them is carried out exclusively by volunteers. Our dedicated volunteers deliver on average, 225 meals per day; 5500 meals per month; 66,000 per year.

A strict organizational standard of Meals on Wheels is that our meals must be freshly prepared, balanced and nutritious. Our meals are prepared by the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital and York Care Centre, and these two well equipped facilities enable us to accommodate most diet restrictions, including allergies, diabetic diets and various food intolerances.
Our drivers come to know the people on their routes, and so in addition to providing nutrition to sustain the client’s health and independence, a meal delivery by a Meals on Wheels volunteer also serves as a daily safety check and a source of social contact for many clients.
Perhaps there are people in your life who would appreciate a break from meal preparation. Or reach out to someone you are thinking about; in a time of need, to say Get Well Soon, Happy Mothers Day, Happy Fathers Day, Happy Any Day. Gift certificates are available for purchase and can be redeemed for our home delivery program, Meals on Wheels or for the dine-out program, Wheels to Meals.
The Wheels to Meals Senior Dine-out luncheon program has been operating since 2000. Every Tuesday from September to May, where approximately 50 seniors dine and engage in conversation, enjoying memorable tunes preformed by one of the many volunteer entertainment groups. Many dedicated volunteers run this program including drivers who pick up clients, returning them safely to their homes after the program, and others who help serve the meals and clean up the hall. Transportation to the Wheels to Meals luncheon is available for those who may need it and live within city limits.
